The perfect holiday location

Our houses are situated near the towns of Monsegur and Duras in the region of Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the border of the Dordogne.

The perfect holiday location for anybody looking for rest and relaxation. A great place for friends and family to meet and have a get together.

Bordeaux airport is a 1 hour drive, Bergerac is 45 mins, Toulouse is 2 hours, Limoges about 2 hours, there are other regional airports please check with your regional airport for flights, see below for our Flight checker.
To drive from Calais it is approximately 600 miles mostly on motorway/autoroutes.

This is the ideal base from which to explore South West France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the 3 borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France.

The gently rolling countryside is a pleasure to explore, with excellent roads winding their way through fields and vineyards.

Monsegur is a pretty XIII Century Bastide town set around a market square which is host to a weekly market and also a weekly night market during the peak summer season. There is a good selection of shops including cafe's, bars and a pizzeria which host's weekly live music. There is also a cinema, which does show international films in their original language version.

The wrought iron covered market square also hosts the many festivals and events throughout the year.
Relax with a refreshing drink and watch the world go by or indulge in some hand made chocolates from the local Chocolatier.

The property Salazar is situated just under an hours drive north of Toulouse or about 2 hours south of Bergerac/Bordeaux, in the region of Midi-Pyrenees, department of Tarn et Garonne near the town of Lauzerte.

Wine/Gastronomy

The Bordeaux wine region has 21 appellations. Visit some of the many local Caves and Chateaux who offer free tastings while you choose a bottle or two.

Not to be missed is the world famous St Emilion, just a short drive away. A designated world heritage site and is truly stunning. Explore characteristic narrow lanes lined with wine merchants, cafes, restaurants and interesting independent shops. A guided tour of the monolithic church is highly recommended.

Bordeaux

This designated world heritage site is a must for all visitors. This cosmopolitan city offers a diverse range of attractions. The golden triangle has a fabulous range of shops for those shopaholics.
A rich variety of architecture forms the backdrop for the street cafe's, restaurants, bars and not forgetting the superb Grand Theatre.

Dordogne

The Dordogne is just one of the many places to visit for day trips. Any thing from Canoeing or boat trips on the Dordogne river to exploring ancient villages, see the pictures above to give you an idea.

Markets

Most villages and towns hold weekly morning markets full of fresh and interesting local produce. An ideal place to pick up your holiday mementoes and gifts.
Both Monsegur and Duras also have night markets during the summer where you can eat and have a drink as well as stalls.

Golf

There are many pay and play golf courses within the area, the best being the beautiful Chateau Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club. The chateau dates back to 1597 and is set in 450 acres of stunning countryside. Facilities also include a fine restaurant and relaxing beauty spa.

Beaches

The Atlantic coast, with over 150 miles of golden sandy beaches is less than one and a half hours drive away. Great fun for all the family, simply relax and soak up the sun or try your hand at surfing. Alternatively there are fresh water lakes with a beach and facilities, nearest is at Blasimon about 30 mins drive.

Activities

If you have time to be bored after all of those activities there is still plenty for you to do.
Cycle hire is available to your door, public tennis courts are located in Monsegur, zoo at Bordeaux, horse riding and Karting.
The Dordogne is not far and is ideal for day trips, maybe canoeing on the Dordogne river or take a leisurely boat trip.

There are an abundance of towns, villages and castles to explore on your doorstep. There is always a market, fete or festival going on somewhere, celebrating anything from music, food or wine.

We can accommodate you however long or short you wish to rent a property during the off season, dates always flexible, contact us for your requirements.

We have had the most memorable time on our holiday. The house has been amazing & met all our needs for all 12 of us. The facilities has met all our needs & we would definitely come again!
